What is Google Docs?

Google Docs is a free suite of online office applications that allows you to create, edit and collaborate on documents with other users.

You can use Google Docs to create, edit and share documents, spreadsheets and presentations.

Google Docs works in your browser, so you can access it from any computer where you have an Internet connection. The documents you create are stored in your Google Drive account and are automatically saved in the cloud. This means that even if you lose your computer or delete a document, you'll still have access through the web or another device.

Google Docs isn't just a document-editing tool; it's also a word processor. That means you can create and edit documents using your web browser, without having to download or install any software. The service is free for anyone who wants to use it, but if you want to store your files in the cloud, you'll need a Google account.

The following list shows which file types Google Docs can open:
